2019 Presidents Letter- Patricia Chenevert-Anderson

On behalf of the CMSA of the Chesapeake, it is an honor and pleasure for me to take this opportunity to welcome you to our twenty-fourth year as an active chapter. I want to extend my deep appreciation for the successful 2018 year to the 2018 Officers and Board members for their expertise, continued dedication, participation, contribution, and teamwork. In particular, I would like to acknowledge Keith Jacobs our past president for his insight, leadership, and commitment. Also, I thank our Sponsors and Corporate Partners for their generous support. I believe that again this year the entire board will utilize their expertise, experiences, commitment and collaborative efforts to accomplish another successful year.

Members of CMSA provide a high degree of professionalism, diversity, knowledge, advocacy, and educational programs. These quality attributes enhance the ability of our members to develop and use effective strategies to guide patients through the continuum of care in a holistic approach. As case managers, we meet the patient's needs both mentally and physically in an ethical, and cost-effective manner. The inclusion of all professionals regardless of disciplines of these characteristics are what essentially set us apart from other healthcare organizations.

Last year CMSA of the Chesapeake provided a variety of educational programs that included:

  • The Role of Inpatient Rehabilitation in Post-Acute Patient Care and The Future of Rehabilitation

             Medicine

  • The Annual CMSA of the Chesapeake Conference (From Uncertainty to Opportunity-2018 Annual

Conference) which included the Annual Maryland Food Bank Drive

  • The New Age of Bullying and Violence in Health Care
  • Psychology of Chronic Heart Failure

We welcome all diverse population of case managers from a variety of workplace settings to participate in our learning opportunities that include CEUs. Attendees do not have to belong to CMSA to participate in these learning programs.

Our first program for this year is on February 9, 2019 at The University of MD Rehab and Ortho Institute and the title is: "Continuous Glucose Monitoring: Practical Approaches to the Newest Technology in Diabetes". We are working on additional programs, please let us know if you have other topics of interest.

CMSA of the Chesapeake invites you to our annual conference on Friday, May 3, 2019, being held at The Hotel at Arundel Preserve.  Our theme this year is “Moving Patients to Wellness”.  Stay tuned for more details on the conference schedule on our Website. Come on down, spend the day, learn and network with old colleges and meet new ones. See you there.

I wish you all good health and we are glad to be part of your journey toward excellence as Case Managers.

Sincerely,

Patricia Chenevert, BSN, RN, MSA, CCM
